I broke another throttle return spring last week and under inspection I noticed that the arm that actually goes into the injector pump seems loose and the clock spring on there isn't doing anything. What I was wondering is, is the shaft going into the injector pump and the lever on the outside one piece? Can this be fixed without pulling the entire pump off? It seems like it isn't going to be there for long right now anyway.

If anyone knows how this all goes together, I would appreciate the info. Thanks

Are you referring to the levers at the front of the pump or the ones attached the the bottom rear under / along side the governor housing?

The one at the front can be "overhauled" in place or quickly removed from the pump. Disc. your cruise control and throttle cable, remove the 3 cap screws with the 10mm heads. Place it in your vise. . perhaps the spring is broken? The nylon bushings (3914353) for the shaft should be changed too. . once you get the unit off you will notice the e-clip that faces the pump, which will allow for disassy. This should help rid you of the loose play you describe? The lever (bell crank is available seperately), but the shaft and its housing are sold as a unit. About 125 from cummins. . 3923069

If you are referring to the gov. end, you are referring to the shut off lever or the "speed lever" which controls idle to high idle rpm's with its stops. Hope this is helpful.
