Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) injector pump?

hey i hear a ticking noise comming from the left side of the motor when im running between 1400-2000 rpm im thinking maybe an injector pump going south the truck still has plenty of power though... it has also been running kind of rough almost like a pinging in the engine? i am running power service to keep the fuel from jelling the temp outside has been around 35 degrees all week. . the truck is a 98 12v any input would be great!

The ticking is probably the lift pump. It's down on the side just above the starter. If it is running rough you might check the fuel pressure, the lift pump could be going out or the overflow valve may be weak. It's *much* more common for the overflow valve to be weak though.

I will second that, these p-pumps are ALMOST problem free, other than something like running it out of oil (which if it ran out, your going to have a bigger problem than the pump, ENGINE), usually if something is wrong with it, it has usually got something to with someone doing something or playing with. So I would worry yet about the pump, I would look at the overflow valve and lift pump first.

i have no clue whats going... on the truck ran great yesterday, im thinking i either overdosed it on power service or i just got some bad fuel, ill keep you updated though

An overdose of PS shouldn't hurt anything. I dumped quite abit in one time (won't discuss amounts because you might think I am crazy) and it didn't hurt anything. Also I have put in alil extra Standyne stuff in before w/o any problems. The extra Stanadyne actually seemed to help the truck.

When I was trying to figure out my truck I was adding a quart of power service per tank. No problems that I have noticed.
