blown dodge at 3 miles!

I just got a letter from my friendly Dodge Dealer telling me about new injectors that Dodge is offering for the 03 and 04 trucks.

They say the new injector will increase power by 60hp and torque by over 160 ft pounds. They also say that the injectors will signifigantly improve thottle response and increase mileage. They say the injectors will not void any warrentees and Dodge is backing them because they will not raise the EGT over stock. Just plug and play no other changes to the truck.

They call them the DieselMax Advantage. \

They say they will install them for a about $1300. A little steep...

The dealer is a good one and was one of the dealers that Dodge used to test the 2004. 5 600 upgrade before it was released.

Anyone heard about these new injectors,(maybe they are not new). Also if anyone has any experience with them I would like to hear about it.

I looked up DieselMax on the net but no information as yet about them or the company that makes them.

In my opinion, you are being fed a line of complete crapola. Although I believe perhaps they are willing to sell you some upgraded injectors (maybe Diesel Dynamics or Piers manufactured), I'd bet they'd "run for the hills" if you ever showed up with a warranty problem.

As Moeller points out, how can you pump more fuel into a cylinder without changing EGT? And the gains they've advertised sound suspiciously like an Edge. Hmmm... I'd say this is a total scam. It would be really cool if you could scan in the letter and post it here so we can all read it. :)

I doubt that they are Dodge injectors. They are an aftermarket injector being sold by the dealer and Dodge doesn't know anything about it. If they did warranty it, they would be lying to dodge to get it covered. They are not a good dealer... something smells funny and I don't think it is my 3 month old! :-laf

I wouldn't throw out the claim based soley on this. I tend to believe the dealer's full of crap too (because they usually are), but I don't know anything about those injectors. However I do know Don M has demonstrated an injector that flows 7% less fuel while increasing HP and lowering EGT's. Even his Mach1 EDM's on a VP44'd truck have shown to reduce EGT's in certain situations, even with more fuel being dumped in, mainly due to better atomization of the fuel and the subsequent increased efficiency of burn.

To the original poster, I would get more info about these injectors and find out who actually makes them. You might also ask them if you could find your own injectors and have the dealer install them and keep your warranty. Whatever you do I would get that warranty statement in writing. If you can do that and want the power, I'd say go for it... and let us know what happens!

I think that there may be something to the injector the Dealer is offering. The Dealer has been one of Dodges test groups for new products and seems to have the inside track with Dodge on new stuff before they are released by Dodge. They had some 600 trucks in 03 for test long before there was any word on it in the news.

I talked to the dealer and he told me that the injectors are something new that changes the spray plum put into the cylinder. It does not increase the amount of fuel put in just atomizes it much better. They do not change the rail pressure or the pulse duration just the way the spray is handled.

They have not encountered any excess EGT problems on the trucks they have changed or to the new injectors and says Dodge is backing the change and authorizing the installation as an aftermarket addition for the 03 and 04 trucks. They are not talking about who is making the injector just that they get it from Dodge.

I would say from your last spost it sounds good. I had injectors put in prior to delivery by the dealer. They were factory injectors honed by a local guy that has done years of stuff with the dealer on Vipers. They are only smoothed out not opened up bigger and gave 80 hp. $1300.

Bottom line for me would be, Who at the dealer are you dealing with? (service mgr. )... ... . Do you have a good relationship with him, (trust him)... ... ... . Would a dealer across the country take one look under the hood and notice different injectors, thus refusing you service? Just my $. 02

I had heard rumor of dealers putting the 8 hole injector tips used on the 03-04 trucks on the 600 injector bodies. Maybe it wasn't just hearsay. That would explain the plume change and the use of no more fuel at least. I don't know if this is even possible though. Maybe Don M can chime in here and let us know if this is even possible.

I stand corrected. My apologies for my earlier mistake.

Nevertheless, I remain skeptical about Dodge-backed injectors. Hopeful, but skeptical. ;)

The Dealer is Larry Miller on Bell Road. They have done a real good job for me as compared to other dealers here in Phoenix. They are quoting actual dyno testing in their letter. Testing was done in May so they must have done some additional testing and got approval to go public with the no Warranty problem claim.

That would be totally awesome if The injectors were really from Dodge and not just a dealer thing. I think it might be believable because as most of us know there is an uprate kit from cummins for the 12 valvers(http://www.cummins.com/na/pages/en/products/dodgeram/accessories.cfm) that includes injectors and warranty. What is a little more believable to me however is something similar to cummins 24 valve uprate kit which is a recalibrated ECM.
