If the injectors are leaking fuel, do you have to replace the whole injector or just the nozzles. And also where is a good place to buy stock injectors and/or injector nozzels to improve mileage. Not looking to make more horse power, just better maileage and reliability.

It depends on where they are leaking but as a rule replace the the complete unit and tips. Wear gets to both of them and causes issues.

From all accounts, if you want better mileage a 50 HP tip is a good investment across the board. It varies by truck but generally better idle, better efficency, and more power for a minimal investment.

Wicked Diesel has some of the best prices on stock injectors I have found, they also have better nozzles.

DDP has an excellent results with their nozzles and will uses the same new injectors as the rest.

F1 Diesel has new tips that are top notch and you can get new from them also.

Industrial Injection also has injectors and various nozzle configurations.

I know a couple other independent sources that will offer good deals. PM me if interested.

Diesel Care - Memphis, TN

When researching this very thing I found Deisel Care out of Memphis, TN to be the most inexpensive for injectors. They offered to schedule me to drive down in the morning and wait on them to remove injectors, put them on a test stand, and re-install/install new. Sounded great over the phone. I dont have experience in directly dealing with them. Here is the website:

I would Not recommend REMANS unless they break down every component that they are promising to replace. Bosch considers 5. 9 2003 injectors to current Non-rebuild-able, thats maybe why they do NOT make available internal component's.

Are there new aftermarket injectors? Completely new or is everything a actually a reman?

There is no such a thing as an aftermarket injector for a CR, Bosch is the one and only manufacturer.

There are remans out there, run don't walk away!

Bosch has still not figured out how to rebuild them effectively, they don't have a supply of pinternal parts that wear, and frankly its a moot point. With the pressures these units run and as many events as they use, metal fatigue is going to be an unsurmountable problem.

The SS bodies area a step in the right direction but only time will tell if they will be more durable. The internals are the problem and a lot those pieces are not available or not in a volume that will make a difference.
