I have a early 98. 5 (March) 24V and had read about possible wrong injectors: https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=52377

I have always been a little upset in that my '96 12V was giving me ~22MPG and the '98 with the ISB was supposed to be 5-10% better. I am currently only getting 17MPG. I would not trade the 24V back to the 12V. I really like the addition 500RPM power band too much.

So here is my question: If I do have the incorrect injectors (still to be determined) is it worth going up to say a 275 injector to replace the stock injectors?

I am currently not planning to do other bombing at this time. I really just would like to get the MPG up without sacrificing existing power and performance. I can not complain about the power. To test some other problems that I was having Cummins West put the truck on the dyno and it was putting out 200Hp at the axle. They commented that I was getting a little better than 235Hp and was wondering if I had done some mods. It is pretty much stock except for the K&N air filter.

Also, I noticed that Piers has some Extrude Honed Injectors. Any benefits over a stock set of 275's?

Thanks in advance!

would let you "borrow" their EZ for a few days. I know you started talking about injectors, but after installation added to the cost, the EZ is a good alternate first HP mod. The fuel mileage increase from the EZ is due mostly to the changes the box makes to the injection timing. You might consider this because it is so EZ to take off and put on.

Having said all of that, I have DD1's and love the combo with the EZ.

Dan,275's wil work nice for you,you should be able to pick up a used set cheap,. ot buy them new for under 300 shipped now. You wil pick up some mpg with them if you keep your foot out of it. The EZ is quicker/easier to take on and off,but the injectors give smoother power. The ez wil give a lot more low end torque, and response than the 275's. I do agree that the EZ maks more sense sinc ei it so EZ to put on,and gives close to the MPG improvement of the 275's.

I had a friend loan me his EZ and i ended up buying it off him, its that good. And if your under warranty, its great, just unplug it and your truck magically returns to stock.

275s

I just bought a set from ADT for 275$ plus shipping. I just finished the install. Had to "road test" it. It seemed a little better than stock. Next MOD will be the trans.
