Injector replacement

Good evening. Looking for some clairifaction on replacing injectors in my 06. Number 6 is at 90 per cent on a contribution test number 1 is about 96 % according to local service...

I thought no problem I will just replace them, talked to a cummins dealer and they told me that you have to code the trim setting into the on board computer. And that only dodge has the access to it?

What has been your experience?

Thanks

This was brought up a while back and as Bob said, it only applies to 6. 7's.
I think I would find another tech that know's the 5. 9 better.

If I ONLY used the contribution or balance testing, I would be stealing, those tests should ONLY be used as touch-tone, if you have NO other symptom's disregard Them, they are ALWAYS all over on the board, Injectors have behavioral problems that are apparent to hearing ,seeing and verifying.

I agree with TC... . if anything and you are still unsure, have a good shop do an injector return flow test... . will tell you more than what you have to go with now.

A 10% variation cylinder to cylinder from lowest to highest is common. I recently replaced an injector that was at 88% and gained several percent as there are other factors in cylinder performance.

I recently rebuilt an 01 HO and I have suspicions of a lazy injector. Am I reading above that they can be tested on board or do I have to pull them to have that done. Thanks

The jerk pump injectors are totally different from the CR's. A whole lot easier to test and adjust. Any good shop should be able to fully test and repair a 24V injector.
