Took my truck to diesel shop today, havnt drove it in 2 weeks because of cracked injector. I was supposed to take it in tomorrow so I drop it off today, I go in, drop off keys, check to see if all is good..... Theyve lost my parts, will have to order new and wait longer! WTF... ... If I ran a buisness like this Id eat spam at every dinner as I could not afford real food for LACK OF CUSTOMERS!!! Then I proceed to tell the shop manager that on of them is cracked and he has this bewildered look on his face and says "you never told me that" Yes I did Dummy thats why Im bringing my truck to you.

So my question(s) are this: when injectors crack in these trucks whats causing it?

is it the injector body or the tips that are cracking?

when you order injectors do they just rplace the tips or the whole injector?

He said its just the nozzle that they replace?????

Its true, when you order performance injectors you are only getting new nozzels, either they give you somebody elses bodies and keep yours for a core, or have you send your own injectors in and install the new nozzels. Or just sell you nozzels and you install them.

The whole injector is, to my knowledge, only made by Bosch. I think brand new whole injectors cost at least $450 EACH. If someone knows of cheaper new ones I want some too!!

I beleive you can crack 'em both at the tip and inside the body. A bad injector doesn't necessarily dump gobs of fuel to the cylinder.

Yeah but it sure runs rough. My truck will rattle and shake upon start up, has a sound through the exhaust like its got a big cam in it. Belches bunches of blue smoke too

Well Ill keep in touch, thanks for advise fellas'

#1 & #5 injector bad!!! New 50 horse nozzles on the way, replacing the 2 bad ones with 2 new Cummins injectors, just swapping out tips. Hope I notice a performance gain for all this work Im doing (and CASH Im spending) Im going to have them run the valves too while theyre in there. Should be done Thurs or Fri.

P. S. will the truck smoke more now??? Im hoping not too bad, a little is alright but not tons of it.
