VT-903M Injector rebuiling

new power strokes

Does anyone know of a good injector tester. Also how much am I looking at spending to get one and the adapters to test the diffrent injectors that Cummins uses for the B series engine. Thanks.

I would think they are under $500, they're pretty simple but unless you're checking a lot of injectors why own one when most shops will check injectors for a minimal fee if not for free?

I work at dealer. Right now we send the injectors out to be tested. It takes us a day to get them tested the dealer pays $150 to have a 6 injectors tested then we don't get the results.

I wouldn't worry too much about the results with pop testing injectors, they are either close or shot most of the time. I guess the automated machines might be able to give you some results in print, but the hand type poppers really wouldn't work.

A decent pop tester is going to run $500 - $1,500 used. Look hard at semi truck parts handlers, auctions, etc. You can find them. Most fuel injection shops can build lines and adapters to make the tester hook up to anything.

I second the comment on their usefullness. They will not always root out a bad injector, and are not the end all to test injectors. I have been frustrated with my truck because it displays symptoms of a bad injector with a slight miss, but can't find it. I'm living with it until the day I can afford 370's. Also had my pump balanced on the bench, it was perfect, no problem.

One phone call to an authorized Bosch dealer resulted in them saying that it would cost between $10-$15 per injector. This was just to set the break pressure(s)... nothing else.

For the $150, they maybe getting more than we think... like cleaning, etc.

We have an injector tester that we haven't used in years. I think most high-pressure injectors like ours use the same, or nearly the same, fittings. At least most of the Bosch systems going back into the 1930s.
