Have you re-mortgaged for fuel yet?

I just installed my DDP injectors and when i pulled injectors #5 and 6, I noticed they had carbon buildup on the tips. #6 was really bad. The truck only has 12k miles on it. Its never gotten good fuel mileage really. Now it gets really good mileage and the power is awesome. But these threads on dropping valve seats have got me wandering if mines gonna go soon. Seems like bad injector, high egts, bad mileage, smokey startups, are some of the causes/things noticed before one lets go. Thats pityful. I had a 550hp 12vavle that had 400k miles on it before I started upgrades and a 2001 with over 600 hp that I put 225k miles on and both of those truck saw the dragstrip very often(27 passes in one night), pulled 35,000 lb loads at least once a month and saw egts of over 1600 degrees every day. i never once done any repairs on those trucks. Now I've got a 2005 that I gotta worry about going out of town in cause its pretty much a piece of sh**. I never thought I would ever say that about a cummins, but more and more, these new engines turn out to be crap. Hell, I could own 3 or 4 hot rodded 12 valvers for the price of this thing. Ok, so thats enough venting for tonight. It makes me sick to say this, but I may have some mods for sale soon.

Were those rebuilt and turned up complete injectors or did someone install nozzles? We never had any good experience selling turned up nozzles. They are just too easy to mess up if you don't know what to do. We sell our rebuilt and tested at full rail pressure injectors. They come in Stage2 or Stage3 mostly. For those that have the modified CP3 we also have Stage4 thru Stage6. Thanks

The injectors are from Dynomite Diesel. These came out of Piers 04. 5 truck. DDP reconditioned them before I got them. I can't imagine any other injectors being any better. They make great power. Pretty smokey, but I don't mind the smoke. :-laf I'm just wandering why my stock sticks had so much carbon buildup on #5 and 6 with only 12k miles on it. Thats kinda scary. I am actually not sure what size these injectors are. They are supposed to be 100 hp, but they do smoke pretty good and I can hit 1400 degrees with just the ez and I'm running the HTT SP66 with 14cm housing. I haven't even got the tst on right now(sent it for timing upgrade). So I am actually considering pulling the injectors out and just running stock ones. I definately don't wanna have to go to twins and build the head on this thing.

Check the rail relief valve and see if it is leaking. Rail pressure could have alot to do with the smoke and temps. Just a thought.

When I swapped my injectors I had alot of carbon on 3 and 6. And quite a bit of carbon on the rest.

It does seem to be a crap shoot on the third gens, some seem to live just fine and some puke when young, modded or not. These ultra-sensitve and WAY TOO EXPENSIVE injectors really do suck on Both the Cummins and D-max.

to help keep the carbon down on injectors, top of pistons, etc. i use transmission fluid its cheaper than the others. i use about a quart a month or so. its not a quit fix but over time it works. hope it helps
