hey guys,

long time diesel owner, newbie to this site. i am starting to get a strange itch, one that gives me the urge to start bombing. i dont have a lot of money since i am still in college, so i am only going to need a little more power right now. yeah right everyone says that. anyways i am looking for about 100 more hp my truck is in my sig. would it be better to get some injectors first or some sort of chip. and if so which ones. thanks.

Stock clutch ;) I would wait for the smarty Oo. If you can not wait I would go with the Edge Comp, lots of adjustment. And you can always add a smarty later. Then injectors after a clutch. But first before ALL ELSE get gauges before Bombing :D :D :D

There is a difference in the way power is applied between injectors and a box..... The injectors are a smoother application therefore you can normally get away with going with more HP from an injector and not slipping the clutch. A box will come on very hard and sudden and this really plays heck with a stock clutch.

That being said I vote for injectors, I would recommend Formula 1 Mach 2's or 2. 5's. Once the clutch and gauges are done then add the box. As far as a box goes you have a ton of options. You can go with something along the lines of a Smarty that is a programmer, and Edge EZ this type box doesn't tap the pump wire. Then you have the higher HP boxes that tap the pump wire, TST, Blue Chip, etc. Then there is the Edge Comp that combines the high HP fueling boxes with timing... ... Each has its pro's and con's. Give us a call if we can answer any questions.

My vote is for the SMARTY. If you don't want to do a lot of transmission mods, a tapped wire box is probably not the best, unless you can stand leaving it on the lower levels for a while. As far as injectors, I would recommend going as big as you plan to go the first time. But then again, I'm not following my own advice! I started my BOMBing with a CATCHER, which is essentially a previous generation, not-as-advanced SMARTY. I would highly recommend this type of upgrade. You might even be able to find a used CATCHER in the classifieds. If you do choose injectors, I would recommend the same injectors as Jetpilot.

go with the inj. many reasons... . less strain on vp44, no extra wiring, less headaches searching electrical problems and so on... ...

you will hear a lot of guys talk about the smoothness of injectors. These motors seem to respond well to them. I would vote for don m's 1 or 2's. He has by far the best injectors though they are a tad spendy. I am saving for a set of 2's myself :D Good luck!
