Hope this isn't too repetitive. I know this has been rehashed several times. I'm am thinking of upgrading the injectors but I don't want to get too carried away. I want to be able to haul without worrying too much about EGT's. How far can I go? I know you guys with the DD2's and 3's (and above) have to really watch the EGT's if you were to "work the truck". Are DD1's OK or should I stick with 275's? Thanksarooney.

With DD1's and no boost module you can get to 1300 without a lot of trying pulling. Add a boost module and you will struggle mightily to get 1150. EZ and DD1's pull hard and temps are about the same as just the injectors and boost module. That is the only injector combo I have experience with. The others will help with the bigger injectors.

I have BD step 2 injectors (almost the same as DD2's) and an EZ set on #3.

Pulling a fully loaded 40 foot gooseneck I get around 775* - 800* post turbo.

A close figure would be about 1200* - 1250* pre turbo. And you have to MAKE IT DO THAT. That's about 75 mph uphill.

Cruising it runs about 700* post turbo or about 1000* pre.

To make a long story short, you should be fine with DD2's. Happy Rammin' :D

I got DD2's......

And the EZ. My truck weighs 10K lbs and I have a hard time getting my EGT's over 1200° pre turbo.

The 4" exhaust and better air filter all help also. If you have a stock exhaust at least upgrade the air filter and put a boost module or EZ type box on. Then the DD2's should be fine. And you will absolutely love the power.

I have heard to many regret stories here about getting too small of an injector. I wouldn't go any lower than level 2.

With just my EZ I could not get egt's over 1250 pulling. When I added the DD2's and pulled anything up a grade I could easily peg my 1500* guage if I let it. But I've found that with a little attention I can pull at least 10+ mph faster with the 2's and keep my egt's at 1250. My next step will be 4" exhaust then a new turbo to keep the temps as low as possible.

Benson-

If you are not in a hurry, I will be in Bakersfield the first part of December and you can drive my truck if you want. I have sportbike injectors that are comparable to DDII's. I should be able to give you a real good towing report too. I plan to be there most of the month so we should be able to hook up.

Hey, sounds cool. Let me know when you'll be around. You going to be on business?

Fred,

I usually try and avoid Phoenix when I go west. I take I-8 to Gila Bend then go north to I-10. MUCH less traffic. :D

Benson,

I have the DD2's and an EZ, and have been very happy with this combination. In my opinion, this is what my truck should have been like stock! Increased power, and MPG! I wish I would have made this change sooner. Hope this helps, -Ken

Phil, I was just seeing if you were coming this way. I am about 15 miles East of the road your coming off of to hit I-10. I'm way West Phoenix, more like East LA some say.

Maybe we could hookup, if you've got the time.
