I have 13600 miles on my 2500 HO 6spd manual, so far it has been flawless during towing and empty operation. I noticed today there is a very small amount of fuel leakage/seepage from all 6 of my injectors where they screw into the block. Not enough to drip but enough to collect dirt and its wet if I wipe with my finger. I am use to my 1966 John Deere 4020 diesel tractor, (if its not leaking its not running) but I wanted to run this by my fellow TDR members and see if I should take this to dealer for a checkup or if its normal.

Uh I might be wrong, but I know on my Cummins the injectors are under the valve cover in the center of the head, so they are not exposed to any thing but lube oil off the valves.

Are you sure some one didnt sneak a Ford in to your garage?

I think you are seeing the coolant pugs, many of them have had leaks. Most are just fingure tight. just tighten them a bit and all will be good.

I would guess that it is the injector lines that maybe seaping, that is what you are seeing and you should take to a "good" dealer to have it checked out.

I was able to find a diagram of the cummins HPCR system. I am unable to attach it because it exceeds the maximum file size. However I am looking at the injector lines at the last point they are visible without removing the top of the valve cover. This is where my seepage is occuring, has anyone else observed leakage/seepage at this location?

I would grab a 19mm open end and see if they are all good and snug. I have noticed that a little in the past and have given them a good tighten. The problem goes away... CJ

Thks for advise will give it a try.

DChatfield, if it's only enough to make it collect dust I don't think I'd go after it with a 19mm end wrench. I wouldn't worry about it. MAKE SURE you use a torque wrench and torque them to the correct value if you do touch them.

I have what you are talking about but I'm going to keep an eye on it but don't plan to do anything about it unless it gets worse. Keep in mind there is 20,000 psi on there constantly so I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a miniscule amount of seepeage which may occur when the engine is cold or warming up and there isn't a perfect seal for a brief period of time due to warming dissimilarities.

DO NOT overtighten these. You will warp the fittings and cause even faster leakage. Service manual page 14-71 says 22 ft-lbs. :)

Thks for the information. This is why I joined tdr, for the wide range of experience and excellent information that is shared. It does make sense that seepage can occur under 20,000psi, especially with the wide range of temps that the HPCR is subject to. I think I will invest in a service manual before I go tightening any components, especially on the HPCR.
