Has anyone tried a set of injectors with the TST box? If so, what size of injectors and how much did egt's increase?

Injectors with tst

I've downsized to 120 hp injectors to try and run with the tst box. I also have a QSB-1 turbo with an ATS manifold and the rest of the usual stuff. I can hit 1800 degrees in about 1. 5 seconds, this is with the box on 9/9. (I'm only guesing because my pyro only goes to 1600 but the needle points straight down). on 5/5 I can still bury the pyro. It has insane power gains but unfortuneatly it's not useable for me. I've taken the box off.

Your guess of egts is pretty accurate. With TST and EZ stacked I hit 1870 degress during a 1/4 mile pass. When you say the power is not useable for you, are you referring to the turbo and not supplying enough air? I know my DD Jammer can't handle over 6/6.

There has been speculation that the TST box (due to pulse duration) is still supplying fuel too late in the stroke, thus causing the heat and turbo failures. If this is the case the lower settings and larger injectors may be a way around that. Does anybody whose tried the injector/TST combinatio have any comments on this THEORY?

Sradke I have heard the same about to much fuel after the event of combustion, seems TST will need to address this huh?

I'm not in any way saying this is the case. I've heard others speculation but I don't know the specifics of what degree (or degree window) the PMCR actually injects on the higher settings. It will be interesting to see what we can learn as the bigger turbo's and twin setup become available.

I talked to Mark at TST today concerning issues with my Power Max CR, and he told me to send it to him & he would "flash" it. My PMCR s/n is 1147, shipped to me the 3rd week of Feb. , Mark said that they had made several changes since then, & my box was old compared to the ones being shipped now. It throws codes & dies at higher rpm. I will update when I get it back. A 30*f & lower I could run 4-4 without cutting back, at 60* + 3-3 is about max, confirmed by Mark. He mentioned a Switzer turbo, but has no test results yet.

Only running on it a few days now; always on 3/3. S/N 1234. No codes and no problems. I've done some WOT runs; so I'd expect to be tripping codes if it was going to. But then again -- low settings too. I'm happy with it. More power then my 98. 5 even on that "low" setting.

In talking with mark he seems to think the main problem is due to timing, it needs to be advanced even more to help with this. The problem is that is to due this the electronic board they would have to use is very expensive.

So what options do we, the current TST box owners, have? Are we going to have to buy a new box if we want the additional timing?

Brandon

I was climbing a light grade (about 4%) at about 70 w/ ex temps at about 800 and noticed that if I turned the TST to 0/0 the temps actually went UP 50 degrees. As soon as I turned it to 1/1 or more the temp dropped 50 again.

TST PMCR

Call Mark & ask if you should send your box back to be flashed. My s/n is 1147. He told me that the early boxes had very little timing advance. He also said he has none on the shelf, so he needs to change the ones we have. Hope to have it back late next week, & will post results.

PDog, what actual temps were you seeing? I'm a little nervous about my EGT gauge at the moment. It's a DiPricol and at first I had a lot of faith in it.

Now, even before I start the truck it reads 300 deg. After the truck is started it seems to perform like it always did. With the PMCR on 3/3 at 70 mph, slight grade, 10 psi boost, 2200rpm (4:10s) I'm seeing 650 deg.

Is that consistent with your experience? The gauge is over a year old but I'm trying to figure out how get it "warrantied" (replaced for free).

I've got 3. 73's but it shouldn't be much diffrent. At 70 on flat ground with the PMCR on 3:3 I'll see about 8 psi and 650-700°. You're lower gears will raise your rpm and therefor your boost so yes, I'd guess those numbers pretty close.

I talked to one guy that is on his THIRD motor the heat was so high it actually started dropping valves on the second motor when he tor into it he said it had about 2 gallons of diesel fuel in the motor and guess what he was running a TSTPMCR and 120hp injectors and a bigger turbo

I believe that truck was used for pulling competitions ;)

that is because the Timing is off with the 0/0 setting, but on with 1/1 and above, and the timing lowers the EGT a little, in fact the 1/1 setting is timing ONLY
