Hey guys, It's been about 5-6 months since my last post. Probably don't remember me, there are alot of new guys on here now. I want to know if anybody out there knows how much it costs to have the origional injectors rebuilt, or how much It costs to buy new ones. Any idea? Thanks a million !

Last year I went through it with the 89. The new injectors were cheaper than rebuilding them. At the time the BD injectors were the same price as the originals, so it was a no brainer. I first did a compression test to see if it was worth the investment.

Just replace them FWIW. BTW welcome back.

(edit) Piers website really didn't have alot for the pre '94's , not on purpose I'm sure, but his market is the newer versions. Which seems to be the case with alot of vendors that I searched last week. Good luck on your search for injectors/ shops.

I'm using the BD uprate injectors. As I recall they are basically the 180HP marine application injectors and they were about $600. 00 Canadian not including core of $100. 00

I'm happy with what they do.

Got my PW injectors from one of the group buys, paid about $240 with no core charge. Probably cheaper than a set of OEM injectors and a good boost in power as well. If you look around I'm sure you can get a set for somewhere in this range.

If your truck is non-intercooled - and it has the 9 MM injector tips... do not replace the stock injectors with the PW injectors... No power increase. The very first engines had low pump settings and big hole injectors. Apparently, emissions needed tightening, and they switched to smaller hole injectors and higher pump settings later. It did not quite coincide with the intercooler being added.

Power Wagon is right on. The injectors that carry his name along with the BD's (if they are the 180 hp marine injectors) won't give you power but actually decrease it. It did in my non-intercooled truck. For performance, go with the Lucas injectors or Ol' Blue Specials. Big Don can get these for you.

Thanks fellas. I'll have to start a search. I'll probably replace them this summer. It smokes alittle at idle. I had one guy tell me that its the injectors going bad. The nozzle it worn and is just dripping some of the fuel instead of spraying it. That would explain the smoke. I'll start looking. Who is Big Don?

Thanks much!
