My truck is a 2003, with 275,000 miles and I have the original injectors. The truck runs great, but after doing some reading, I feel like I am living on borrowed time. A few questions, how many miles are other 3rd gen truck owners getting out of their injectors? If/when they go out, do you recommend replacing them with the stock injector, or would you go after market? I really am happy with the current HP of my truck, run a Smarty controller on level 3, don't need a race truck! I get pretty good fuel economy. Replace the fuel filter every 15K and also give it a fuel additive/injection cleaner every 15k.

Yeah, borrowed time pretty much says it all. If they run good and you are seeing NO signs of issues I would just monitor and keep doing what you are doing. From experience the injectors are probably noisier than new ones. The change happens over time so until you change you just don't notice it. Single biggest change I noticed after change out.

A slightly larger nozzle in conjuntion with tuning does give better efficiency if one is going that route. However, not every 40-60 HP nozzle will do that. A LOT will make it worse. There is a lot more to the nozzles than justa larger hole and if it is not done correctly it really messes things up. The BMS 50's would be a great choice because it is slightly larger nozzle, better QC than even the stock factory run new Bosch injectors, new bodies and internals, and the cost is cheaper than stock Bosch injectors. The problem EVERYBODY figured that out and they are getting hard to find. The next step up would be a set of BBI stage 1's.

Those are the only 2 I would even consider. All the rest seem to have good and bad attributed to them.

I have the. Bosch motorsports 50hp injectors bought from scheid diesel a couple years ago. I have about 15-20k on them. I do get a slight haze at idle, but it's minor and mostly clears up at operating temp. My only real complaint is injector rattle around 2100-2300 rpm. Other than that, they work well for me. When I bought my 03 with 240k it wouldn't start at 50*. Now it starts fine at 6* with no block heater and minimal grids.
