It depends on what type of driving you do. If you tow much at all then both of those size of injectors are too big. If your hot rodding around town and you want the most power then go with the 5's. I see that you have stacks so that will let you get away with smokin like crazy without blowin it right into someone's side window:eek:

If you do plan on going to those big injectors for racing, BD now has up to step 8's. Also I hope you plan on getting a turbo, I suggest Piers' HX40. A clutch will be in order also, and I would go with Peter of Southbend.

Andrew,

Are step 8's released yet? What is the HP ratings of these injectors. Also, why did you recommend piers HX-40 instead of the B1 bomber? I hear KwikKurt is making a B1 kwikspool.

If you don't tow heavy and want to have some fun, the step 5's are the ticket. Make sure you have good FP before the install and you might as well go ahead and remove all restrictions from the inbound fuel line, personally, I wouldn't be without the Weber fittings in replacement of the banjo bolts. You are going to be way out of the limit of the HX35, if that's what you still have. I can hit 42 psi's of boost with relative ease in 4th gear. 5th and 6th gear can see 45 psi's, my wastegate setting, with no problem. That's with the EZ and the step 5's and the TST box OFF.

The 5's are on the fringe for me as a daily driver in the summer, mucho smoke when it's hot and humid. In the winter months they smoke less than the step 3's did in the summer, if that makes sense.

As far as I know step 5's are the biggest Bully Dog is releasing. There are several injectors I have had the priviledge to test several different injectors Bully Dog is R&Ding, and the ones I had in Muncie were step 8's. They are awsome injectors for the strip and using drugs but I wouldn't recommend them for everyday use and defiantly NO towing.

I am sure that they are not yet released, but there are some folks running around with them other then Mr. Smith. I do not know the ratings off the top of my head. If you really do want these then contact Andy and Doug at Advanced Diesel Tech. and they can hook you up for some MAJOR $$$.

I like the B1 from the reviews I hear, but I now am just leaning towards Piers HX40 when the time comes. Just had a great review from someone with the SAME setup I will have. Nothing wrong with B1 though.

unless you're using NOS or have twins the BullyDog 8's are probably not going to give you any more power than the 5's or at least not much more as you can't burn all that fuel---I know since I've had the 5's and am now using the 8's--the 8's have been in for 2 months now---

Jetpilot is dead on with his assessment... chris

As has already been mentioned, you do NOT want the Step 8's for daily street use. A member in my area that has them was recently pulled over and cited for excessive smoke. I have not personally witnessed his truck, but from many different reliable TDR members that have seen it on the streets, those are just way too agressive for street use.

Thanks for reinforceing the poist i made in the first line of my first post guys. FOR RACING ONLY!! I was more or less letting people know that there is a choice if they are loooking beyond the normal Step V's or Drug Pushers. I would not go over stage 4 for daily driving, but what do I know.

How much smoke will the BD 5's produce with the comp box set around 3x3, I'm looking to upgrade my injectors too but don't want any pollution tickets:D , also I have drilled out banjo bolts would I need to upgrade any of the fuel fittings or fuel lines?

The V's are not bad on 3X3 and there is almost no smoke on level 1. Now on level 5 look out! These injectors really make the power. I made 62 more HP with the V's than Super Mentals. Personally I love them..... But once you go bigger the smoke becomes a real issue. With the 8's I made smoke all the time.

As for the fuel issue you may need to upgrade your pump situation. Some guys use a pusher while others use a single high peformance pump, yet others leave it as it is. Personally I wanted to have 10 PSI min. at WOT. I still don't have that (I get about 8 with everything on) with my setup.

JetPilot--punch a hole in the bottom of the tank--slap some Aeromotive stuff on and you're set for life well at least one year:D:D... . chris
