Well, after installing my 8th lift pump in 200 k miles, I figured I'd install an inline fuel filter. Any suggestion? Nothing fancy or expensive, just something that works and is easy to service.

TIA

I have been checking out a few ideas my self I talked to keith at Vulcan Performance Home Page and I purchased a in line fuel head unit pretty simple I have the fuel line already from my fass pump so I will bypass the stock filter housing and the mounting spot will be by the firewall but on the frame rail havent figured out position/location exact but fittings and pieces they have all of it. I wouldnt recommend smaller than a 10 micron filter. hope this helps.

Glacier Diesel Power has some nice 2 micron systems. Going with F/W sep and 2 micron on mine after $8000. 00+ to replace the whole fuel system.

You said "smaller" but we all knew you actually meant "larger" or more coarse. The 2 micron units would be ideal. I'm looking to put one on my truck also as I run a lot of "salvaged" fuel from rigs that are going to the salvage yard. No point in sending them out to salvage with 300 gallons of fuel in their tanks.

well I have always been told and read threads that 10 micron is best for 2nd gen and 2-7 micron for 3rd gen due to the common rail. but hey dont take my word for it. alot of times I dont take my own word. I will call sourceautomotive. biz or vulcanperformance and ask what they recommend. the glacier pump is the same as vulcanperformance. its pretty cheap.

good luck
