ok i have had a 8. 3 p7100 pump for a while, as i've been collecting parts to do a p pump conversion. . i recently read a post here saying the rqv governor is differnent then the rqv. . k governor thats in the dodge application etc so... .

here are the pump #s from this pump

#s on side of pump plate:

PES6P120A120RS7265

0 402 736 840

4682241144

#'s on back of pump plate:

RQV350... 1100PA964

3922426 18K

I know it has 12mm plungers and supposedly from Joe Donnelly's older posts the RQV govenor does not use a torque plate setup just a screw adjust ment etc correct?

Does any one know the specifics this pump is set up for?

i plan to use it with a set of enterprise laser cut delivery valves and 370s, and i'd like at least 4000 rpm from it etc. . for my beginning twin turbo first gen project etc

ALSO ANOTHER BIG ??? this pump has the two fuel ports at the top of the pump sides on opposite sides etc (fuel feed and return). . and the oil drains back into the front cover by the drive gear correct? well WHERE IS THE OIL FEED GO? it does not have a open port on the engine side of the pump as with most dodge applications . . there is a plug that looks like it hasn't been removed on that side, but it does not look like the oil feed port etc. . any ideas?

supposedly the pump came from a ford and it was painted grey

I really appreciate any help any one could get me... i am ordering the bosch tech instruction booklets(pe &pf pumps , and inline governors), but does any one know of a pump assembly or dissassemly tech manual for these pumps?

thank you

Your pump has an AFC housing on it... . which would lead me to believe that there is a plate underneath it.

Take out a sharp chisel and turn that breakoff screw right out of there and tell us what's underneath.

The governor section of that pump also looks just like what I'm used to seeing on the Dodge applications... . I'd hate to think it was THAT much different that we can't crank up the max RPM a little bit.

The oil feed issue still has me the most concerned.

It's time for you to also research the fuel feed and return banjo lines... . shouldn't be too tough to find.

Matt

well i'll take off the afdc tonight. . as fro the fuel feed and returns i'll probably do some an fittings that flow more then a banjo. . i think ha oh an guess what miller tools wants $ wise for the lifter intall and remover kit? $230 crazy . . i think i'm w2ooen doweling it ha

oh and i won a stainless steel bumper from the truck show ha...

later

Deo

i hope some one knows more on the rqv govenor

Are you f'in kidding me on the stainless bumper?!! NICE!!

Too bad you can't get one for your own truck - nevermind the truck you drive @ work... .

Like I said before - worry about the oil lines more than anything else.

Matt

Let me get this straight, (not to change the subject) you can take the P-Pump off an 8. 3 and use it on a 5. 9 12v? I had no idea i was sitting on a land mine. LOL. . I have one sitting in an old truck down in the junk pile cause the truck was wrecked. What else could a feller rob off of the 8. 3? and put on a 12v? If I'd known I could do this stuff I would have researched it YEARS ago. .

Just more ignorant ?????'s

Russell

I hope you don't try to take the pump apart. (is that what the tool kit is for or are you removing the cam from your engine?) There isn't anything in there you you should be messing with and you won't get it set to run without some professional help. (might be more costly if you've taken it all apart)

I have a cut-away diagram of the RQV governor if you want it. (send me your e-mail address) It shows the adjustable ramp instead of a plate. It also shows the governor springs and weights and how it's all connected.

Maybe if you take out the plug where our oil supply normally is and blow a little (clean) compressed air in there you might find where the supply came in before.

I could be wrong but some of the 8. 3's have the oil supply come from a drilling in the front cover to the mounting flange of the pump it is sealed with a small o-ring it is above the pump drive shaft on the top side of the mounting flange.

Craig

csevers you are correct . . holeshot and i were puzzled at the lack of oil fitting on the side of the pump etc this weekend when we were checking it out etc. . so i called are and yes this pump has the small o ring style oil port at teh front of the pump which really sucks unless i can plug it and tap into the oil galley else where. . i'mlooking for another pump. . i wish i had known about the oil port when i bought the pump 2 years ago ha... . kinda sucks and i'm on a budget too ... . no the miller tool i mentioned in my other previous post was to hold the engine cam lifters up to remove the cam and to pull new ons into a camless engine and a tray to catch the old ones. . all is relatively possible with home grown tools consisting of wooden dowels and aplastic tray or 12 magnetic sticks hehe not $230 bucks worth of miller tools. .

only part of the pump i plan on taking apart is the govenor spring and plate area and the delivery valves. . etc. . oh well i mif=ght be putting the ve pump back to use for a little while till i figure something out hes my email for the rqv diagaram etcx

thanks

Well I hope you can get it figured out. It would be pretty cool. Maybe somebody who rebuilds these things would know how to plug it up?

I thought you were talking the cam in the engine even though there was no mention of it. (I think Bosch might be the only supplier of the tools for disassembly of the P pump)

Isn't it amazing how quickly feelings of being 'puzzled' turn into feelings of being PI^^ED off!!?

We'll get her up and running - sooner or later. In the meantime... . there's lots of other stuff we can work on.

I know a VW TDI that needs a timing belt... . :D

Matt

well i just did some test fits and the oil fitting on the pump looks like i could still use this p pump if i ground away room for a fitting etc and possible welded up the ground away ara on the gear housing etc... . now next to the oil port is threaded hole probably to clamp the pump to the 8. 3's oil drilled gear housing i could use the hole to ancor a o ring fitting there. . or maybe jsut tappe the oil port and use a 90 degree fitting probably 1/8" or smaller etc

mummn matt loks like wer still might be doing a p pump deal . . heheh looks like the tig will be employed also heheh

ps just thought maybe i could get a wrecked 8. 3L gear case an cut the top section that the pump mounts to off and cut my 5. 9 case and section the 8. 3L piece in mummn or weld up my gear case and drill it for a oil fitting s?... any ideas on where to get the oil fitting o ring and the pump mounting circle orings?

etc

Deo: I have never claimed to be an expert on TIG welding aluminum..... in fact I'm far from an expert. Call Mark - maybe he can run a good bead... .

I'd hate to see you totally hack up your perfectly good, brand new housing..... but we gotta do something to get that P-pump on there.
