Cool site... . I had a 67 Chevy 1/2 ton that I restored... put in 292 that I rebuilt and juiced up a couple of notches... towing cam, headers, dual exhaust. It was a nice truck, sounded really nice and would tow really well. I loved that old six.
Passed it to my son who ran it a long time... he replaced the truck with one that had a built 350... that never towed as well as the 292 did.
This is a great site. It has been a favorite of mine for a while.
In the late 50's and early 60's I did a little racing with Chevrolet and GMC 6's. I had a 278 inch (bored out 261) Chevrolet with a Packard transmission and Dana 44 axle in a 1954 Chevrolet. I replaced that with a 331 inch (3/16" overbored 302) GMC with a Cadillac 3 speed. Had a lot of fun with that car.
I was doing some cleaning in the garage a while back and found the intake manifold I had on the GMC. It is a Howard's with 5 Stromberg 97 carburetors on it. Also found a set of Thomas magnesium rockers for a Chevrolet and a new set of Iskenderian lifters for either the Chevrolet or GMC engines.
I also still have a factory new Chevrolet manifold that was used on the original 6 cylinder Corvettes. It mounts 3 side draft Carter YH carburetors and has never been installed. Might be worth something!
