Need to remove front wheelhouse liner to drill frame. Service manual says remove the plastic rivets. Is there a way to remove these rivets without ruining them? Is it necessary to just break them out and buy new ones?

I used one of those flat pry tools with the split in the middle on mine. The threads get burred a little but can usually be reused. If not, NAPA carries a good assortment at a reasonable price.

plastic rivets

THose rivets are only a couple of bucks from the dealer. I have to buy a new inner fenderwell for my truck because the front half pulled thru and the tire ate a huge notch in it:( . Guess I'll have to get around to replacing it soon( with some washers to keep that from happening again.

After I removed mine I replaced the plastic crap with 5/16" self tapping screws, much easier to remove. Get them where ever you can. :D

Drill them out with a steel bit, just like any other rivet. Pop the new ones in with a hammer. Buy the new ones from a FRP supplier as the dealer prices are a joke.

Now, I thought I was familiar with most fasteners, but "splain" the 5/15 to me. PLEASE

Anyone with experience with fasteners would realize I meant 5/16" which I have corrected sorry I confused you. :D

The reason I used bolts is when I have to work on the pre-filter or lift pump I find it easier to remove the wheel and liner to get to them, it works for me. When I sell the truck I will put the plastic fasteners back in. :D

cut the rivets with a pair of wire cutters. If you get new rivets you will need a special plastic rivet gun. I like the look of the rivets because I own a body shop and when i see different fasteners the first thing I think the truck has been in a wreck. So if you ever want to sell the truck the rivets would look better.
