Good Day All. Quick Question How Hard is it to do the inner Timing cover Gasket? And As I'm doing it what should I replace in the mean time?

Thanks Keith

You mean the gasket between the gear case and the block? That involves removing the radiator, aftercooler, AC condensor, fan & hub, injector pump, valve cover/s, rocker assemblies, and cam. It's a full day job.

After doing several of them, you might get it done in a day, first time plan on 2-3 days. You need some special tools too. Here is a quick and dirty short cut: be sure the bolts inside the case are tight, then goop silicone RTV on the area that is leaking (clean with solvent first). There is no pressure helping itto leak, so you are just preventing a gravity leak. Actually, the bolts should be tight as they used sealer on the threads beginning about 1996, so you could try just the RTV first. It might look bad, but you really can't see it after the truck is together.

Check the Bolts!

Mine were loose from the factory. Dealer thought it was a seal, but after getting it all torn down the tech working on it said the cover bolts were only finger tight. He did the seal anyway, but believed tightening the bolts would have done the trick had he known before hand.
