Input shaft install?

Anyone install their own input shaft. I have had a few trannys apart and got them back together, The 48 re manuals are in good detail.



I was looking at doing the input and front clutch upgrade. With a few other goodies.

inputs arent that bad to do. once you have the trans out take the front pump off, the input and the front clutch pack will come out at that point. make sure the new input has the seals on it before reinstalling it. i have made that mistake once and its not fun doing a job twice. the biggest pain in the neck of the job is getting all of the clutches lined back upand all the way in.

Thats what I thought. As I look more into this I relize that this is very similar to my 46re in my 1/2 ton. I put that transmission together and with 500ft lbs that has held together. :-laf



I am a freak about doing things myself (control freak) . I will be looking further into this.
