upon going back underneath the truck to put the new clutch back on, I noticed that the input shaft on the front of the transmission has a little bit of play. I am sure it will be gone once mounted up to the motor and all, but is this normal?? someone please let me know pretty quick!

Chris,

Did'nt you read my post to you about your clutch? I suspected by the damadge that the clutch disc had that yur front brg. needed to be replaced. Your seal being bad is also another indicater. Fix it.

Thanks peter. . I am on my way to get a new one shortly, as I do not want to take anymore chances. it's fun to work on a vehicle, but not when you have to still work a normal job during the day, have an hour or 2 of light, and stay up into the night trying to get it all done. I have done everything by myself, and it was a chore, as my driveway is on a slant, so I had to block the wheels on the transmission jack to stop it from rolling back to the rear axle. Hopefully I can have all done by the time the game comes on!

Check the pocket bearing that the nose of the mainshaft rides on, and the flat bearing too. YOu will also have to check mainshaft endplay, spec is 0. 002-0. 006" presumably nearly dry of lube.
