i have 2001 3500 sport auto trans 4x 4 now i just got some gauges from genos garage ... . pyro,boost and transmission temp. the others went in no problem... i thought they would be hard and transmission easy . . not he case at all i tried putting in one of those little screw ports but all that did was spill out transmission fluid all over under side of truck when i drove does any one have a simple solution to this ploblem with out removing the pan please email @crazykids1997@aol.com thanks ..... louie
 
You really need a Mag Pan or a cooler line with the fitting spot in it. Putting it in one of the test ports won't show you the circulating fluid temps.
 
The best way........

Is the replacement line that has a built in port as stated above.



Part# 5011244 AA, cost around $95 at the dealer.



Janetty's sell a block that has a port in it for around $40. You have to cut the cooler line to install this. It's what I used at first with no problems. After the transmission mods I upgraded to the replacement line.



Mag HyTec pans have a port built in but it's best to measure line temps. The pan temps are after the fluid is cooled and won't give you aquick enough heads up if there is a problem.

I ditto BWB's post... I too started out with the Jannety port and then went to the replacement line when I had my DTT BOMB's done.



Also, DTT replaces the rubber part of the replacement line with stainless-braided line. Was told this is because they have seen a few of the rubber ones break with high line pressures. Don't know about this though.

Janetty block for trani temp gauge

I was looking on the Janetty site and couldn't locate the block to install the trani temp gauge sender into the lines.



Does anyone have a part #? Will this work for any year?



My truck is a 97.

I would think you would install it after the 2 coolers as the fluid is on its way back to the trans, this way I would know if the trans is running within the limits of the Trans cooling system.

About half way down the page under the gauges. It's called a transmission temp manifold.



You wan't it to be on the out going line. The only place that's staight enough is just under the heat exchanger tank on the passenger side of the block. There is a straight run as it rises into the tank.



Reading the cooled fluid won't give you enough notice if the transmission is overheating. I have a sender in the pan and line and the pan temps barely move. The line temps are effected most by idling.

Thanks, I found the sender block on the site.



Do you know which length of probe I need to use for the sender.



I was going to buy a VDO Vision series gauge and they offer two probes, one is 3/8" and the other 5/8" long. They both have a 1/8-27 NPT thread on them.

Not sure about length.....

My autometers didn't have a choice. The block is rather large though. I would call Jannetty's and ask what they recommend. I know on the replacement line you have to add a reducer to get it to 1/8" NPT as a matter of fact the Jannetty's block does also. The block comes with the reducer if I remember correctly (Hard to do these days :( )

As another option you might consider a B&M drain plug. You will have to remove your transmission pan, but once installed the sender will replace the plug in the B&M drain. It is much cheaper than a Mag-hytec and it will allow you to drain you transmission oil quick. I change mine every 15k and it takes 15 minutes. I remove the pan every other time to put in a new filter.
