Install of gauges.

Can anyone give me some hints before i drill into my perfectly good manifold to install boost,egt gauge inputs. I have bought some used gauges and don't have any install instructions. I'm sure there is a past issue that goes through it step by step.

What year is your truck my truck already had a plug for the boost gauge from the factory in the intake manifold. As for the EGT probe the exhaust manifold has a web in the middle so you need to drill a little off center perferably towards the firewall as I believe these cylinders run a little hot. As for drilling take it slow cast iron drills and taps very easily. Stop and clean your drill bit off a couple times before you drill through before you drill through put some grease on the drill bit this will keep the chips on the drill. When you break through use a pen magnet through the hole to get out as many chips as posssible. Then tap the hole use grease on the tap this will keep the chips on the tap. After tapping use the magnet again and get all the chips out. Look in the hole with a pen light and see if you got all the chips. Make sure you tap it deep enough to get the thermocouple into the exhaust stream about half way but don't tap it to deep or the treads won't seal off and it will leak. This is for the install before the turbo.
