I'm installing a single by-pass filter on a 2001. There is what looks to be a second port on top of the engine oil filter bracket right next to the port that feeds the oil to the turbo. It has a plug in it. My question is can I use it to feed the by-pass filter instead of using a tee at the oil pressure sending unit? That would be soooo much easier.

Yep. that's where I hooked mine.

P. S. I don't know what hoses you have but I had some high pressure hydraulic hoses made up. Cost about $25 - $30 but gives me a little extra peace of mind.

Awesome! That's going to be so much easier. Now I just have to figure out where to mount the thing. I'm thinking of making a bracket and connecting it to the battery bracket.

Amsoil provided 500 psi hoses. That should be fine.

Tom I like your idea, about the high-pressure hydraulic hoses.

I will check this out.

I run the dual remote filter system Amsoil. It is set under the radiator

I never did like the hoses. OverFueled

If you go to my web page at www.1gr8oil.com you can see some installs using the passenger side battery as the mounting spot. I also utilize an inexpensive mount to mount it with. As far as the oil lines that come with the BMK-11 by-pass, they are more than adequate!

Well it's in and working. With all of the hunting for parts and trying to figure out where and how to mount the filter it took me about 6 hrs to install the filter and change out the oil to Amsoil. Oh yea one more thing, that oil cap adapter is a PITA but I got it figured out and no dirt is going to get into the oil from the cap. If you've ever taken the cap apart you know what I'm talking about.

I mounted it at the battery. I mounted it so that by taking out the battery hold down bolt and disconnecting one oil line I can take out the whole assembly. This way I can change the filter without making a mess. I installed a shut-off at the engine so if there are any problems I can shut down the whole system and keep on going until I have time to fix it. I also install a very easy oil sample valve. Both valves are 1/4 turn.

Now I've got to change the rest of the fluids over to Amsoil.
