Installation opinions for Line-X and Flares

I want to get the rockers Line-Xed along with the bed, but I'm also going to put on BW pocket flares.



Should I get the rockers done all the way to the wheel wells, and then put the flares on top (since the Line-X isn't very thick)? Would that leave to much gap at the seam or not allow the flares to "flush up" good to the truck? Or, should I go ahead and install the flares first and spray up to the edges; but then have a "bald spot" if I ever did take the flares off?



What's the standard proceedure for this install?

Wondering same thing

I was wondering the same thing. I have already done my rockers, but I also would like to add flares. I think there might be a little gap where the liner meets the paint.

I was thinking of line-xing all of the way around so that there would be a line-x fender flair under the aftermarket ones. I quess it would depend on how the aftermarket flairs are attached.

The BW flares (and probably most these days), have 3m tape used to attach the flare to the metal (+ screws in the wheel wells). I don't think the tape would attach well to the lineX, but I was thinking since it was down near the bottom, and the screws would hold most of it, it wouldn't hurt if it didn't stick. NTM the gap situation may let in debris that could fill up and cause a little rot to the fenders (just maybe).



That being said, I think I've decided to go ahead and spray to the edges of the flares (not under them), because I don't really plan on ever taking off the flares anyway. If I ever did, I guess I'd just have the rockers sprayed all the way across. Should'nt be too much $ to fill the "gaps" and "touch up" the other to get a good refreshed finish.

I'm a LINE-X dealer.



We do it several ways: 1. We apply LINE-X to the flares, all the way around. The less seams the better. It also strengthens the BW's. Then we put the flares on the truck and then spray the truck (rockers and around the flares). It seals in the flares to the truck and looks "finished". 2. Apply LINE-X to the flares, attach to truck and do not spray around the flares. 3. Attach flares with no LINE-X to truck and spray rockers.



Decisions, decisions.

I have Rhino lining on my rockers and put the flares on top. Fit fine. Not much if any gap. If there was a gap, I was planning on taking my dremel and just shaving a tad off the flare to make it fit flush.
