I'm replacing a Glacier lift pump kit with a FASS HPFP 95-1003 (95 GPH pump without filters) due to a failed Walbro pump (used with the Glacier Kit). The Glacier kit had a fuel by-pass on the pressure side of the walbro pump that returned excess fuel back to the tank. While installing the FASS system, I can't find any mention of a fuel return for the FASS pump on a HPCR engine (the instructions show a fuel return being used off the VP44 pump, but nothing for the common rail fuel systems). My old school education has taught me that pumps need some sort of a return for excess fuel. I'm wondering if I should use the existing fuel by-pass on the pressure side of the FASS or do I eliminate it all together? Where is the excess fuel suppose to go that isn't used by the CP3? Thanks for the help!

the fass pump without the filters doesnt have a return. The one with the filters does have a return to the tank. I dont see where it would hurt to use the existing bypass if you wanted to since its already there.

I would hook the FASS pump up with the glacier return line and start the engine, watch your fuel pressure gauge and make sure the pressure stays around 5-15 psi. If it is too low take the return out. jakprince is right, I can't imaging it would hurt to have it in place.

I agree, I can't see why it would hurt either. I left the by-pass in the system and while idling, I'm seeing between 15-16 psi fuel pressure. Looks like mission complete on my end, but I'm going to check with my retailer and see what they say. Thanks for the thoughts.
