It's my understanding that with a Venier {spelling} caliper you would be more accurate on where to tighten it back down to. . like take the reading before you pull the stock springs out. . {mine was at . 140} and after the install make sure it's measured the same. Never had a problem yet with idle or stalling.

I have done 6 or 7. each time before I put the cover back on I cover with a rag and start it that way the idle is always right, only bad part is you do need some one to start it for you wen you are holding the rag

I set all of them by feel (bounce). I use a screwdriver and check the tension on top of the retainer. I have found that you always cant go by the measured height. In some cases you will get better results by doing the (feel method). Good luck!

My stock springs were at . 060''. The 3kGSK did not like that, way too touchy of a pedal so I backed it off 1 click to about . 045''-. 050'' and now it's great. I agree if your idle jumped up more than about 100 RPM than back the springs off a click or two. Just how how is your idle?

while we are on the gsk4 subject here...

Is it suppose to fuel all the way to 4K or stop at 4K? Mine fuels nice to about 3800 and then dies off and cant do anything over 4k. Do I need to tighten or loosen the nuts a few clicks on the springs?

Since we're talking about 4K GSK's here I'd like to ask a question if its ok with the thread originator?

Is there anyway to adjust and get the bounce out of the 4K GSK? When I'm hauling a load and I start up an incline if I have to let out for EGT's, then lean back into the throttle I get a horrible bucking that shakes the whole truck.

Is there any cure for this? I've been in a couple of trucks that did it besides mine. All 5spd's with 4K GSK's & HD VS's.

Thats odd, mine doesnt do that and I got a 5sp too. But then again mine doesnt rev to 4500 either. Maybe the springs are too loose and need to tighten them up a click?
