New injectors or just new nozzles?

A friend brought his 05 over yesterday, we installed DDP 50 Hp injectors and the difference is amazing. MUCH MUCH smoother idle, mid throttle and full throttle. There dosent seem to be much difference in off idle smoke. But the power is smoother. . Now I have to buy a set for my truck...

Thanks for the post. I plan on a set of the 25~35 HP parts when the time for new injectors come up. I don't need more power but I wan't the smoothness and fuel efficiency.

This seems to be the most popular choice for replacement injectors. I've even heard about better fuel mileage to boot. Could you define "smoother", though. My truck seems smooth now with stock injectors.

This truck has always been a good running unit. Plenty of HP, good driver and no engine quirks. The only way to discribe the "Smoother" is just exactly that. It idles more evenly, although there was never a complaint before. It revs up smoother. And seems to pull under load smoother. I assume that there must be something to having Matched injectors. I have been a diesel mechanic most of my adult life and have not witnessed something with as much improvement in the subtle area of smoothness.

Gonzo,

I experienced the same thing you did on my '04. 5 when I had Scheid Diesel rebuild my injectors and install 50hp Bosch nozzles. They were flow matched on the tester. The result was really incredible! Much smoother at idle and while running at all rpm's. Imagine the word "silk" here and you have the right idea, that's how smooth it is. Each injector is putting out the precise same amount of fuel as the others and it is pure joy to drive. A lot less noisy also. And then when the 6. 7 fluid damper is installed it is pretty close to heaven!

A truck may run good, have good pulling and towing power, even get good fuel economy and then when balanced injectors are installed it becomes a totally different truck in a good way. You really have to experience this to understand it.

Godspeed,
Trent

blacksheepdiesel;
I've been towing our rig more often, and am looking at claims for stepping up to the "50HP" injectors. Share your opinion or a resource to explain a bit about the increase in HP & Torque "50 HP" makes? Seems like it's a lot more than 50!

Hey Walter!

Wow, that's a hard one for me to answer right now because I went from stock to 100hp nozzles and then to 50's. I just pulled the injectors out of my '06 and took them to Scheid's to get rebuilt and balanced with new 50hp nozzles so I will be better able to answer this after towing next week.

I just got my truck back after having all the injector lines replaced because of two cracked injector lines and the milege on the truck. I also bought a set of DDP 90 HP nozzles and had them installed. I took the truck for a drive and it was impressive the change in power. I do not have a programer or box just a boost fooler. I had no smoke at all even on a hill doing the speed limit and accelerated away from the line of cars built up behind me and left them. I am glad I made the upgrade to the 90 HP nozzles.
