I just wanted to firm up the shifts so I got the 70 PSI towing valve body. Still have the stock torque converter and mild HP increase (see sig line).

I installed the VB myself. It was really easy. Took it for a test drive empty and everything seemed fine. The MIL light did not come on so I thought the voltage on pin 31 was ok. Took my Wildcat for a drag and after 20-30 minutes I noticed I was getting 2nd gear starts (limp mode ??) and the temperature went way above normal. The MIL lamp never came on. I installed the resister and that seemed to solve that problem.

1. Is it normal to have to install the resister on pin 31 of the PCM even though the MIL light does not come on?

I was playing around and placed the shifter in 2nd gear on a take off. Everything was fine, RPMs went to about 3000, then I think the lockup clutch cycled a couple of times. The RPMs dropped about 300 a couple times and went back up.

I put the shifter in D and then noticed that when I let up on the throttle the RPMs did not drop. The lockup clutch was not unlocking.

I slowed down for a stop and the clutch never unlocked. I felt the dreaded shutter. I kicked it into neutral quickly and the clutch unlocked. It worked fine for the 10 minute drive home, but I never did the 2nd gear start again.

2. Anyone have any ideas what that was? Do I need a different value resister?

I'll call Bill K tomorrow but wondered if anyone has any ideas. I'm planning a trip next weekend so I want to get this sorted out as quick as I can.

Thanks,

Call Bill K.

That's the obvious 1st step. Make sure that you re-read the instructions and remember what you did in the install. Did you remember everything? I didn't have any electrical connections to make ('95=47rh transmission), so I can't offer any help there. Bill K. will be able to "talk you down", I'm sure.

It sounds like you have a shorted wire, you may have pinched one of the wires, its a simple case of doing an ohms reading on the solenoid. Get a digital volt meter and give me a call on Monday am. This happens once in a while, no biggie.

The lockup clutch will not stay engaged unless its receiving a ground signal from somewhere.
