Just installed fuel pressure gauge on my 01. Cycled the lift pump several times my pump is a mechanical pump w/isolator from Geno's. I came off the schraeder valve. My question is, on start,up only have9-10 psi then on road test pressure drops to zero with light acceleration. same with hard acceleration. The gauge never comes back up with pressure. My thought is I know I have air in the line from the gauge to the isolator I was unable to get the line full of anti freeze. I'm going to try again today to get all air out. also any thoughts on whre to locate isolator? And the pressure dropping would be appreciated. One final thought I just had my LP replaced 1-2 months ago. Also are there any after market LP for my 01 that are easy to install? I'm looking for one that will fit my truck that is straight stock and no plans for up grades. Many thanks you guys are great with all the info. . Brian

Air in the line to the gauge will not change the reading on the gauge. Pressure is pressure, the air just compresses. Almost like which weighs more - a ton of feathers or a ton of rock.

Did you replace the "O" ring in the fuel line? For a quick check grease the pipe and reassemble it then check the pressure again.

What did you do with the wiring harness that came off the original pump? I need one if you are willing to part with it.

Good luck

Robert

You can go with a Glacier Diesel GDP-391 lift pump. Also, if you can, attach the gauge directly to the schraeder and see what happens, your lp may be dead already. Mine lasted less than a year, so I switched to the GFS-392.
