And am not too impressed. Sure on the freeway it rocks but I don't notice too much just driving it in the city.

My friend has the Western Diesel chip which people seem to think is just a rebadged EZ but it seems to have the power comes in allot lower than the Edge.

The only thing I can think of is his truck has stock tires on it and mine has 295's which probably hurts the gear ratio quite a bit.

I'm not going to switch just yet though, my "J" clip for the wastegate will be in soon and then I

will try that and see how it feels.

What Jumper setting are you running on your EZ? If that was different than your friends western Diesel, you may feel the difference.

Good luck.

J

I believe it is on setting #3 , from what the directions say that is the way it comes from the factory.

I did ask my friend about his and he didn't even know there was different settings.

Both of our trucks have stock injectors so I think this is the right setting for it.

Any chance you're not noticing the power because of the auto transmission? It might be slipping more with the EZ.

my 2 pesos...

If you're running it on Level 3, you should feel the difference. Not so much right off the start, but once you hit 1700-1800, you should feel it come on strong.

I had mine off recently to have some work done. Once I put it back on, you could definitely notice the "surge" of power once you got going.

I Do notice a difference but it isn't like my friends truck. Either the WD box has a wider powerband which starts lower or the difference in tire size really matters.

Getting on the Freeway I can really tell, I'm sure the guy in the Vette next to me was surprised to see the big red truck doing 100 next to him !!

Might want to try swapping boxes with your friend to see if there really is a difference. I'm betting there will not be any difference since it is a re-badged EZ. HP output is limited by the ECM and as long as you don't pierce the injection pump wire, you're limited by the ECM.

Apples to apples?

What is your gear ratio?, and your buddies? If you have 3. 55's with tall tires and he has 4. 10's with stock tires, there is going to be a world of difference.

I noticed a big difference when I added the EZ, but I got used to it very quickly. So then came the BD1 injectors, then the Comp box, then the BD3 injectors, then the DTT trans, and then, and then, and then: Oh well you get the point.

There should be some upper rpm difference with the wastegate held down with the 'J' hook, but not at the lower rpm ranges.

Are you seeing any smoke with a WOT launch from a standstill?? What were the differences in EGT and Boost from stock to with EZ?

The same situation you noticed with the EZ is why I went back to a VA. The EZ just did not give me the low end snap I wanted. The EZ does make nice power over about 1800 RPM according to my butt-0-meter though.

Our trucks are identical, right down to the muffler, and air filter.

I talked with WD and they do reprogram the Edge box, and they do claim a wider power band.

I think the A/B test with his box in my truck might be a good idea. If it makes a difference in my truck then there might be an Edge for sale.

I haven't installed the gauges yet , they should be here this weekend and my friend doesn't have any at all.

Actually the Third setting is the "most responsive" and is recommended if you don't have injectors or smoke is not an issue, 2 (decreased low boost fueling) is for mild injectors and 1 (decreased low boost fueling) is for big injectors.

PS - C Warner - are you running a boost elbow?

I actually just installed the J-hook yesterday.

Don't really seem to notice anything. I haven't installed my gauges yet,I'm waiting for the A pillar molding to get painted.

See my post "Edge EZ and J -hook " in the 24 valve

topic.

Mine was on mild

You may still want to check that jumper, my EZ was actually set on the lowest setting when I bought it (despite the literature that claimed otherwise) You might want to pop the end off and check it. Should smoke a bit more too :)
