I just thought I'd post that I installed a pair of Sylvania SilverStars in my '03 a couple days ago. They are $19. 95/each at Autozone and include a $5 rebate so they end up being $15/each.

They are a really good improvement over the stockers, for sure. I think they light up the road as good as my 2000 Chevy pickup did now.

Just my 2 centavos,

Andy

Thanks for the tip Andy, I am thinking of trying a pair. The only thing is I met a 2003 Ram with those on the highway the other night and thought his headlights were obnoxiously bright. Maybe they needed adjusted down.

Thanks for the tip Andy I might have to give those a try becuse Im getting tired of the ones I have now.

Thanks

Stock headlights

Just what is it about the stock lights that every one is unhappy with. Driving in rain, fog, snow or what

I have made several trips at night to see if I had a problem seeing with the stock lights. Seemed fine to me but of course I never came up on a deer or any thing in the road to classify these night time trips as a scientific test. :D

Correction to Rebate

It is a $5. 00 rebate on a pair of lights not each. Just for inquiring minds. . I picked up the form and ordered the lights tonight on the way home.

The high beams are completely worthless on my truck. The low beams are average.

Sounds like a good deal. I put the PIAA Super White Platinums in my 03. Huge difference in light output and color. Huge price at $70. 00 a pair. Worth it

Hey Guys, thanks for the information on the headlight bulb upgrade. How difficult is the installation? I know on my last Dodge truck the passenger side was OK but the drivers side headlight assembly had me saying some bad words! Is there a part number? Thanks---

I'm with Ray, I like the lights, the Silver Stars are better than stock, I've got 94K+ on mine now, and probably 50% of that is night time. Maybe I'm just too old and blind to tell.

Larry C. , your owners manual gives you real good instruction on install, just have to wiggle the assy. around a little to get it out.

Installed Silver Stars' on my 03, love them. Wasn't a whole lot of trouble. Only three screws but one has to be gotten to under the truck. If you remove the headlamp Assembly completely it is real easy to install the bulb. One side the wires were so short that that was the only way to get the new lamp in.

For me its that with them on low you cant see but right in front of you, and the Highs are just a tad brighter then the dims on my old ranger. Im looking for something that will light up the road alittle more in front of me so I can see whats in the road before its right in front of me.

Maybe were back woods Georgia folks but wife and I keep seeing posts about poor lights. We thought ours was great. No problems seeing bright or dim. Have lots of folks come at us that BLIND us with the crap there running. I give lots of them all four. There needs to be a check and restriction to what/how many and AIM on headlights. But ours light up everthing I need to see.

I've had the Silverstars for a couple of months now and am real happy. Bought them at Wal-Mart at the price listed above.

Removing the passenger side light on my truck was a real PIA though.

I ran the silverstars in my 01 for a couple months before I sold it. They were a definite improvement over stock bulbs. I am definitely going to invest in a set for the 03 also. The only issue I have with my 03 lighting is that the fog lights go off when you switch to high beams. With the fog lights on and the low beams, I don't have any problem seeing

Anyone interested in these lights, and in general improving your lighting need to go and read the entire post located here.

Just one question, is the focal point changed to strengthen the beam in a more narrow area on these aftermarket bulbs? And I have a mystery, I have Silver Stars in my headlights and factory fogs. Why is the light from the fogs way more blue than my headlights? You have to see the difference!

Mine will stay stock. They work fine and folks coming at me don't ask me to dim when they already are. I do have lots of stuff coming at me that GLARES bad I guess and with fog/driving and every other damn light they can flip on. I hit them with all four at once until they turn something off or see how it feels!!!
