Was on here at 2PM and decided that I couldn't put it off any longer. Left computer and headed out to garage.
I had received my new pump tues. and knew that as long as it was on the dinning room table I would keep it and my fuel pressure in mind.
For those of you that are not into your own maintenance and prefer to let others work on your truck, can't say I blame you. You need long arms and patience for some of the the work others on this site take for granted.
The job was as simple as many have stated on here. 45 min. from start to clean-up. I didn't have to loosen the filter assembly. One of the studs came out of the old pump and left me with the extra time getting my hands into the same work space down there. (Here's where I broke out the air tools)
All in all it was an easy money swap.
Oh, the symptoms of my failing pump at 81000 miles were:
1. Fuel mileage took a 1 mpg dive.
2. Pressure at idle went from 10~12 psi to 8 psi and would get close to 2 at WOT.
3. Performance was getting bad. (I'm back to 275's until I get the trans upgraded)
One interesting note: When I bumped the starter and pump ran its 20 sec. cycle. The fuel pressure climbed to 14 then backed down to 5 while the pump was running.
The pump does hold 14 when idling though, go figure.
Thanks to the TDR members that have sacrificed their 44's to let other members know the dangers of poor LP performance.
