I just installed a new PS pump and now I have a slight howl coming from the pump, but it seems to be going away... could this have to do with there being air still in the lines??

Also when I do the push brake pedal two times after shut down, I barely get one push before pedal goes hard??

Is air causing these problems? If so they should be going away soon right?

BTW, the steering is NOW nice and light like a 3rd gen :D

Thanks, CJ

Sounds like air to me, if you can jack the front end up and run it full left and full right 4 or 5 times, that should get rid of it. If you cant jack it up go to a open parking lot where you can drive and make complete left and right turns. Don't forget to top off the fluid when your done.

Thanks for the fast reply!

I have been turning it lock to lock and toping off with fluid.

I am now able to hit lock to lock with it sitting still on concrete :D Never would have thought of doing that with the old pump...

Brake reserve with the engine off is probably not the pump, rather a weak charge in the blue accumulator cylinder on the hydroboost master cylinder.

BTW, why did you change your pump? Did you try cleaning the filter screen before replacing the pump?
