Looks great Eric, I'm hoping to get one in the very near future. Do you off-road alot, hench the truss protector ?

Eric,

Very cool! Thanks for posting the pic. I guess there's another item I need to add to my list of "must have's".

scott,

I had to cut off the top 1. 5" of the front plate and I bent the top of the plate out just a bit. you can see where I cut down to the first hole the smoothed it and painted it. The only thing will be when I need to drain the oil, I will have to remove the truss as the drain is right above the truss plate.

the drain is on an angle and it lines up just in front of the heavy plate that goes under the diff. I think that if you drilled a hole just in front of the weld for the plate, it would do ok. but still might get all over the place:(

Just as well to remove one side, swing it away then drain. but won't need to do that for thousands of miles anyway...

I thought the plate was just there as a semi skid plate. . thats all.

And that you can buy the trusses with out the plate.

easy of checking and changing the fluid... extra fluid capacity (well at least for all the other maghytech... not sure about the front end cover). . temp sensor if you'd like. magnetic dip stick... easy to check fluid level and condition. Much stronger than the stock tin cover. . adds some strength to the pumpkin.

Cover is a nice piece,my only concern would be it being made out of cast aluminum,,We all know things happen along the highway with todays road conditions,,All it would take is a hit from a stray piece of foriegn material to cause a problem,,I do of course realize its in a place thats hard to get at,but,is the looks worth the risk??,,just my . 02.....

there is a quart more fluid in the mag than stock. It is easier to check the fluid and you can pull out any metal on the dipstick.

The case is thick aircraft aluminum and it would take a good size boulder to crack that.

The truss has a plate that is welded to an inner "box" of heavy steel which goes under the diff. the outer plate is essentialy a skid plate and the bars that goes to the ends, protect the axle tubes from being stressed on a hard bump while off-roading.

I do a little bit of rock crawling and the day I put the truss on, I went over a little drop and the truss hit the rock. . better than the diff so it does the job.

No troule at all, I just removed the nut and wit 2 taps of the hammer on the top of the stud and it fell right out. you need a deep socket and when you put the nut back on, you need to hold the top of the post with a wrench to keep it from turning.
