Installing a 3rd Gen Radio Antenna on a 2nd Gen Truck

Hey fellas, the paint is chipping off my factory radio antenna on my 2001 truck so I wanted to replace it. I lilke the silver look of the 3rd Gen antennas so I ordered one and when I opened it today, I'm not sure if the bases are the same. It's raining or I would go outside and look.



Either way, does anyone know if I can make this work? Could I swap out the adapter as a last resort?
