Klenger, I took my 2004. 5 2500 Quad SB in this morning to have a 5th wheel hitch installed. I wanted the 7 pin connector on the inside, but was told that there was not enough room between the walls of the bed. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. The tought of the cable hanging over the tale gate makes me sick. Obviously you installed one on your truck. Did it take a special or certain brand of connector. Did you modify the connector. Any help would be appreciated.

Oh, and guess what. They drilled a hole (probably 1/2 in) into my gas tank. 325 miles on my truck. Thanks.

The plug and harness part number is shown on the link shown above. I had no clearance problems at all. If you are not comfortable doing it yourself, find another shop. It's not hard. Print out a copy of my instructions and show it to them.

GEE, isn't it sorta hard to hafta get under the truck to plug the trailer into that fuel tank? :D :p

AHHhhh the quality of "expert help" these days!

I forgot to mention that I also wanted them to install a 7pin connector in the bed of my truck. They told me that they could NOT do that because there was not enough room between the walls of the bed. I just finished installing the connector by myself. It was very easy to put in with lots of room to spare.
