I did not get a cruise control in my HO which is ok as I want to install a throttle. I have to put one in my jeep as well. Anyone had any experience with where to attach the end of the cable or heard of a good "threaded handle" cable with micro adjustments? Thanks, George Eusterman

Hey George-unless you really like drilling holes in the new truck point your browser to www.psdieselproducts.bizland.com and have a look at Gordon's adjustable high idler. I have one and it's topnotch-no wire cutting or tapping to perform-in under an hour you'll have a fully adjustable electronic high idler!

Just a suggestion!

Jason, you are a good man. Unbelievably, this company is in my home town of Great Falls, Montawania. I will be there next month. In looking at his other products, are they truly solving real problems or things for guys with too much money? Thanks again, George Eusterman

I have the intake system saver and the HD idler pulley-although I am ashamed to say the pulley is still riding in my toolbox :{ . I think over time the intake system saver will pay for itself in savings in wear and tear to the batteries, alternator, and heater grids themselves although I have yet to hear of a heater grid failure on any B series truck in these parts-and believe me we see temps enough to cycle them frequently. The pulley is super-heavy-duty... . to me it should have been installed from factory as I believe the current one is plastic?

To top it all off Gordon is about the best guy you could ever hope to meet. I called him up from a foreign country, talked with him for 10 minutes or so, and he offered to ship me out all 3 items that same day if I would get him a cheque in the mail right away (at the time he wasn't set up for credit cards-not sure if he is now or not)... ... isn't that unbelievable? I didn't take him up on his offer-I just didn't feel right about him sending the stuff without having my money in hand-but it sure spoke volumes to me about the man's character.....

If you have any specific questions about the high idler PM me and I'll be glad to help.

A knob just like the ones radios used to have before they went to all this fancy electronic garbage. All the way counter-clockwise is off-turn it to the right and it clicks on (like an old radio) and the farther you turn it, the faster the idle gets! Cool deal-I like mine lots... ... .

You can use it in the winter to dampen the throttle response too-although I know for liability reasons Gordon won't tell you that. When you click it on it fools the engine into thinking that setting is the base throttle pedal setting-so full throttle is around 2/3 or so and every other throttle position is linear over that. I use mine when bouncing around in the rough stuff to dampen the jerkiness that a BOMBed engine brings.

Actually all the electronics fit into a box about (keep in mind it's getting late and I am trying to draw this out of the dark shoebox I call a brain) 2"x3"x1. 5". Gordon recommends to mount it on the steering column-mine is Velcroed to the left side of the knee bolster beside the parking brake handle-some have mounted it in the ashtray too. Simple to install-works great!

I also have the PS High-Idler, its one of the best thinks I've done to my truck, I love it, and use it everyday.

Thanks Rob. Cool truck. Can that dump bed hold a camper safely? Or is it a little unstable for a heavy load like that? I have a slide-in dump bed but would like to have one like yours but I carry (soon) a pretty heavy camper and needed the bed for it. GE

Mechanical high idle set

My truck came with a dealer-installed mechanical high idle set. It's a rotary knob mounted at the bottom of the dash down by your right leg, just crank it to set the throttle where you want it. I agree with Jason, it's nice to have when bouncing around offroad.

Southside loves those things Rich-Hanna transferred one from there that was rigged that way too. I don't know why they'd put all that effort into the mechanical rigup when the electronic one is out there-maybe they don't know about it. I don't use mine off-road as a steady-speed throttle but as a throttle dampening device as mentioned previously. When I get around to the onboard air and hydraulics that are coming at some future point its use will increase exponentially again!

G'man,

The bed would hold, it is very stable, however gravity holds the bed down. Therefore, big camper + big wind = big mess, unless some type of mechanical latches were used. Which I have thought about, just haven't made up yet.

Jason, I dunno why they put the mechanical one in either, but it looks cool and attracts a lot of interest for whatever reason. So are you saying that with the PS High Idler if you just turn it on it will re-map the throttle pedal so that full pedal would be only 67% throttle, thus detuning the throttle response? I'd love to have that because I find the throttle pedal too touchy for off-roading, especially in low range. I'd like to put heavier springs in the throttle return mechanism to make it less touchy.

Well, I suppose that dump bed (is it the one in Northern Tools?) could be fastened down with something or the camper held to the frame sucking the bed down with it. Ifyaknowhatimeanthere. GE

Jason--have you used the idle control for a cruise control on the highway as well? Really, a throttle control is a cruise control in the back country as a low idle but would it work as a high idle on the freeway? Then I would not need a cruise control. GE

Yep, that would do it.

Also, no you can't use as a e-way cruise-control, max rpm's are 1550 with the idler, however you can use it as a low speed cruise-control, whereas the factory CC only starts at 35mph.

rspinks,

yep, exactly what you said. Even with mods, if you just turn the dial on, it's like a built-in valet switch, kinda neat, especailly on the trails.

George-ditto to what Rob said-except the one time I tried to use mine as a low speed cruise as soon as I tried to climb an incline and the engine had to work it threw an idle validation code lighting the check engine light and dropping things back to idle for a bit. I took that as a sign from above not to mess with it in that application anymore and so far have refrained from doing so! :D

And Rich-ditto again to what Rob said. Remind me to show you at the DDS how it works-it's a cool little toy!

Thanks Jason, I haven't had that happen YET, but I haven't used it up any inclines either, after what you said, I probobly wont either.
