I would like to eliminate the OEM priming pump system on a 2000 Cummins ISC. This engine is the 24V CAPS pump equipped version of the 8.3L. This engine uses a Carter type pump like the 98-01 2nd Gen trucks had but it only operates for 30 seconds on key up and start. It then shuts off and the CAPS pump pulls the fuel around the Carter through a bypass valve in the assembly.
Anyone think of any issues the CAPS might have with a constant 5-10psi of positive fuel flow to the inlet versus operating under a vacuum? I know the CAPS pumps are pretty delicate sort of like the VP's used to be. Thanks for any ideas.
