On a 96 3500, Trying to find the plug for the brake controller.

I put a control on a 98 years ago, but it looks different on the 96.

The only thing that looks like it might be the plug, is a large

about 1" across 4 spade white plug.

A dedicated trailer towing plug is nice but not essential. Gen II trucks only offered the brake controller harness if trailer tow option was ordered.

You'll need 12volt constant for the black wire. Ground the white wire. Tap into the brake light signal to the red wire. Blue wire is brake signal output to the seven pin connector at rear of truck.

RBerry, do you have a harness that's supposed to plug into the OEM plug? I spent a whole day looking for mine on my 94 2500 gasser, the sales rep and then the tech from the company I purchased it from told me it was there and look harder. I finally got frustrated and drove to the store and told them to find this supposed plug. It turned out Dodge only supplied one blue wire which was the brake signal. So they returned my money for the adapter harness and I had to run my own wires. BTW, make sure to install a self resetting 30 amp breaker on the positive wire, if you have to install your own.

Thanks for the help Guys it looks like that connector under the dash is the one.
I found this picture that matches that connector.
