Any suggestions as to how to proceed??? How do I mount a square hanger into a round tapered hole or do I just use the side screws. Open and needing suggestions.

Ron,

When I did mine a couple of years ago, I took the plastic insert out of the bumper and sawed off a portion of the cone to make the hole bigger. Then I built a metal bracket that bolted to the bumper and provided a place for the mounting bracket that comes with the light to fasten to.

Took about a day to get the lights mounted. The brackets I made required some cutting, bending, drilling, and light welding of some sheet steel by the time I was done. Not real complicated, but it took a little time to work it out.

I know. You're going to ask for details. I think I still have the write up somewhere on the computer, and a few pics. I'd have to look them up.

Yes. I removed the bolts that hold the bumper brackets to the frame, then pulled the bumper straight out and almost clear of the frame. I stopped just short so I could put one bolt through the frame and catch the last, most rearward hole in the bracket on each side. This allows the bumper to stay on the truck but tip down for easy access to the back side from above.

It seems to me there were some plastic clips of some sort that holds the inserts in place. You have to remove the gray plastic facia to access these clips. I think you also have to remove the bumper bracket from the bumper itself as it block removal of the insert. Then the inserts just pop out.

Other than removing the insert for trimming the cone, I did the whole project with the bumper hanging from the frame as I described.
