Installing engine block heater chord

Is removing the air filter assembly the best way to intall the engine block heater plug? I think i found the post where it plugs in and i am not sure what the best way to get to it is. Just lookin for any tips anyone might have. Thanks alot.

On my 06, I removed the tube going from the filter assembly to the turbo.



I did not have to remove the air filter assembly itself. Don't know of the differences between the two. Do you have the 5. 9 or 6. 7 engine?

I have the 5. 9. It looked like you could remove the tube, but that would require movie both clamps, and it looked like it would be easier just to remove the bottom clamp and the whole assembly would just pull out because the filter assembly looked like it just popped out. Thanks for the info though. Mostly just wanted to make sure i was in the right area.

You can get to the block heater pretty easily from the bottom. At least you can see it better.
