I am installing my new exhaust tomorrow. Any helpful pointers on removing the stock exhaust or anything that would help?

Thanks ya'll

Vern

I took mine all loose then cut it under the rear passenger door with a sawzall and removed the system in two pieces. It came out easy after I decided to cut it.

i made 2 cuts when i removed mine. i would have liked to take it out without cutting, but i got frustrated with that so i started cutting. 1 cut at the end of the downpipe, 1 cut at the back of the muffler. made life real easy...

VStahl

Just like Mark Craig said "WD-40 the rubbbbbbbber hangers":D "just joking Mark". Make your cuts in the exhause before removing it from the hangers. Use a long screwdriver or a pry bar to slide them off the the metal post. When you put the exhaust back on start at the turbo and work toward the rear. You may have to cut the exhaust to length, so fit the tail pipe and muffler first to see how much you need to take out.

Thanks, Brad

What kind of exhaust did you get VStahl? I probably am going to order me one about Monday. I think I will go with the Banks 4".

Got it installed

I got the exhaust installed this morning. I started about 6:30 this morning cause I wanted to beat the heat and humidity that would come later today, plus the forecast showed rain for midmorning ( forecaster was right too surprisingly!) I was finishede and test driving the truck with the exhaust at 8:45. So that put my time to install a hair over 2 hours, not bad considering that I have never done exhaust work myself before.

I got the system from Mark Craig at Diesel Performance Parts, I got the MBRP t-409 stainless steel setup. The system fits great. I only had to cut the extension piece down to 34. 25 inches cause I have a short bed truck. It simply bolted right into place. to remove the old exhaust I ended up using an angle grinder cause I do not have a sawzall. I cut the old exhaust just in front of the joint on the front side of the stock muffler. I then just slid out the back half forward out from under teh truck and unbolted the down pipe from the turbo flange and slid back and out.

THe new system seems nice so far, I have had in at basically all speeds in town and on highway and have not noticed a drown. I guess time will be the better factor on that.

So far I love the system.

Brad, just read you post from awhile back. My 03 tail pipe separated from the out bound of the muffler. The question I have can you be more descriptive on how you got the steel hanger brackets off the rubber mounts. Gary, "Stuck underneath the truck" 2500 03' 4x4

My tail pipe is about to fail right behind the muff too. It sucks that they only do SS up to the muffler and then leave the tail pipe to rot.
