Installing guages

Hey guys, I just ordered my guages today for my truck (pyro, boost, and trans) and I'm planning on putting my pyro pre-turbo, I was just wondering on the boost and trans. Boost do I just drill a hole in the intake like the pyro? And for the trans I've heard some people drill a hole in the trans pan for the probe and some put in a trans line, which is the best place to put? Or is there any other places to put it?

The easiest way to hook up the boost guage is by using a "boost bolt" that replaces a bolt in the intake manifold. It has a fitting on the end to fit the tube. I got mine at Geno's along with my guage.

Get the Mass Diesel replacement cooler line

They make a replacement line that replaces the HOT line coming out of the transmission with a 1/8" pipe tapped fitting. You won't see much rise unless you are pulling up hill unlocked, or backing the trailer, or in stop and go traffic.

Where in the intake do you install the boost bolt. I also recieved a fitting to install the boost line, but I can't for the life of me find anywhere to put it. The instructions show it going right behind the fuel filter, but I can't see anywhere to put it. Is that where it goes? Do you have any pics?



For the pyro, do you take off the turbo to drill and tap or has anyone tried the duct tape method, by putting tape over the exhaust and running the engine while you drill and tape so you don't get shavings in the turbo?

you take out one of the bolts that holds the flat aluminum cover on top of the intake and replace it with the boost bolt.

The boost bolt will come with instructions... it's simple...

As far as drilling the pyro, I took the advice of a couple of people, and took my time with a greased tap, got out what I could with a magnet, and when I was done, just started the truck and let it idle... all is fine.

Also, Geno's has a pre-tapped fuel-filter top that is sweet for installing fuel-pressure gauge.

I waited almost a year before I did my own gauges because I was afraid to do it, but it is a cinch, just take your time... and, on the advice of Geno's... do the pyro gauge with the 1/8" fitting, because if you do screw up, you can step up to the 1/4" next.

Another thing on the pyro... have you read to only tap it to where the fitting threads in about 3 1/2 turns?

Don't tap it all the way through.
