I have a couple of questions on installing the Mag-Hytec DD trans pan. Can the original gasket be reused rather than the gasket that comes with the new pan? Is there anything special about installing the adapter to extend the filter deeper into the sump, or is it straight forward? I appreciate any feedback from anyone that has installed this type of pan. The install is on a 2005 3/4 ton, 48re trans.

If you have the gasket that is a double O-ring with a metal internal piece then yes it is resuable. I have had my pan off several times with no ill effects. I was told that it is a better gasket than the fiber or cork one that comes with the pan and so far it is working great. The filter is held on with Torx-head screws and the adapter uses the same. You remove the existing filter and attach the extender to the valve body and then the filter to the extender. Just make sure that the hole lines up with the hole in the valve body. I don't remember exactly but I think the screws are T15 or T20.
