the trailer i pull is about 13000 the receiver i wanted to install can handle 17000 that is not weight distributing
how much can the truck handle 2001 HO

Your new heavy duty receiver is a good start, however, we need more info on your combination, they are not all created equal. Your experience/ability is key here, maybe more so than the combo.

the truck has air bags overload leafs, for the experience i have pulled boats with tandems and triples for Mich to N.C. for 20 years
all with surge brakes i all so manage the big trucks for a construction company

I installed the Torklift Super Hitch. It has a 17,000 lbs capacity. Only problem is their powder coating is absolute crap. Less than 2 years and they are covered in rust. I would not recommend them if you care what your truck looks like. Btw, I live in Florida, nowhere near the beach, where rust is a non-issue.
