Installing wheel simulators

Is there a trick to installing the wheel simulators on a dually wheel? This seems to be way more difficult than it should be.

I put a set on mine and it came with threaded adapters to screw on studs, then 2 simulated lugs screwed on to them to hold them on. I didn't want the clip type as that was what factory was and they rattled!
