Are the 03 overhead computers different than the previous years? I have an 01. 5 and it has what you want. It is the next setting after the average mpg setting and is the mpg the engine is getting at that moment. After rereading your post I guess that is not what you are asking sorry.

I think this was one of there cost cutting moves on the 03-they eliminated it. I know what you are talking about my 00 had this on it but not the 03. One of DC whizz kid worthless engineers probably figured he could save them so much $$ by cutting this out.

Yep, the new one's are different. I used to have fun watching the *instant* mileage in my '99 Durango climb up to 99mpg while coasting down long hills. (I don't think it would display triple digits. ) But then I'd put my foot back on the gas and it would plummet down to 14 again...

I think the overheads are different depending on model. I think the Lariat has the most sophisticated one. That's what one dealer said anyway FWIW

Instant is gone for all 03 DC vehicles. Like bighammer said, just reset it and you have almost the same as instant.

Mine has the average MPG only because I got the plain Laramie, not the Lariat Laramie. :D
